An Ares caliper stay is much better than using an AC clamp.

The Ares caliper spacer is very easy to use, even with one hand if necessary. I will never use an AC clamp again. It's also sturdy and very well made. I seriously doubt I will ever need to buy another one, I recommend this product.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Frequency

Will not fit in most vehicles. Let's start here. Why? Your caliper should have a clean hole in one end. This means that with 6-piston or even 4-piston calipers, both ends are coated and this tool doesn't fit anywhere. So it was useless. The next day I bought a different kind.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Only available in black

There is a plastic handle! not steel.

I ONLY bought this because I was fooled by the 'heavy' pictures. This is not an all steel construction, the handle is made of plastic. If I had known that, I would have bought a cheaper spreader. However, the construction is solid and the grip really feels like reinforced plastic. I just wanted people to be aware of that. I probably won't use this tool once every few years, so I can't attest to its longevity.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

It's the one! in Brake Tools

This is real quality. Heavy duty quality cast and machined steel. The leg is made of steel and will last a long time without breaking. The steel plate is very thick and rigid. I had a caliper piston that wouldn't move with my other tools and it compresses it with no problem. The best part is that the threaded insert is welded all around in the plate and won't rotate in the plate no matter what you do. The knob is all you need in most cases, but when the going gets tough the hex head makes it…

Pros
  • Ideal for a small household
Cons
  • Almost everything is ok

Great addition to my tool box.

I had a small stuck caliper piston so I decided to push the piston further than it's current position. Slide it back and then out, repeat several times. This can help get rid of accumulated dirt, especially if the car doesn't drive that much. I usually just use a C-clamp to put the plunger back in, but I saw this and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did it because it was a lot quicker and easier. I immediately noticed that the weight was heavy. The plate is made of thick metal and is meant…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
