Description of πŸ”₯ Argon Raspberry Pi 4 Mini Fan HAT: Built-in Heatsink with On-Off Switch for Full Control, 2-Pack of RPi Fans

This Argon Raspberry Pi Fan Heatsink keeps Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B boards cool thanks to its easy setup while using very few GPIO pins. The Argon Mini Fan is also PWM Controllable. It can be turned on at any assigned Temperature using Raspbian OS for further customization when necessary. The switch can turn the Mini Fan on or off, and even set the Mini Fan to PWM mode for full customizability; allowing you to use the HAT however you like. An RPi Heatsink is also added to ensure contact with the CPU of your Raspberry Pi Board. Use your board to your heart's content without the fear of overheating. Includes two pieces of Raspberry Pi Fan Heat Sink that fit inside official Raspberry Pi Cases and Argon POLY+ Cases, which can be used for different projects.

Don't do it Won't fit in case

If you have one of the plastic cases that your Pi fits this fan in, it won't work, it's too big to fit in one even with bulky ones modifications.

  • Best in niche
Cons
  • No mold needed

Works well according to my test

Installation was easy. You just slide it onto the GPIO pins. The instructions mentioned using a silicone thermal pad, but I just used some Arctic Silver 5 that I had on hand. There is a switch on the side of the device that gives you three options. "On" (the fan is always on), "Off" and "PWM" (the fan turns on automatically at a certain temperature). I installed it on PWM, booted the Pi and edited boot.cfg as instructed to automatically turn on the fan at 55C. I then ran a stress test, watching

Over time it gets noisy and the fan stops

I bought these when they first came out and used them with a Pi4 8GB running a Retropie. Over time, the fan got louder and louder and eventually just shut off after about a month. As soon as it got really loud I switched to the second and it was loud from the start. It ended up roasting my Pi. First I tried setting the variable speed as instructed but I couldn't turn it on so I had to keep turning it on. One small issue is that it covers pins 5 and 6, so you can't add a button to turn the…

Not exactly a good deal it seems.

This fan appears to have been designed to fit in an Argon case. Sold separately without a case, this fan's heatsink doesn't touch where it should and is inefficient at dissipating heat. I added a thick layer of thermal paste to fill the gap and my Pi4 no longer overheats. Only the cheapness of these fans allows you to deal with the problem.

Does the job but adhesion sucks

I have a pi for octoprint and it's two packs so no problem. The fans work well and are very quiet, which I really appreciate. The problem is that the included thermal paste/glue is really bad. One of my Pi mounts on the underside of my printer's TFT is practically upside down. The glue is so bad that the fan is held by my pins. Conclusion: Great if your Pi is not upside down.

Easy to install and operate. Not very well paired with a Ram heatsink.

Firstly, I only have one Pi so two fans are redundant at the moment, although that's a reason to buy another. Second, since the product is fan made and not super premium, it comes with a good level of sound, but for me personally, that's not enough. Path on the pins, although the instructions clearly state that this needs to be done, so no stars for that. Finally, I would like the heatsink hanging over the RAM chip to be higher so a separate heatsink can be used with that chip, but what are you

Pros

Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Efficient, simple and quiet

Ok so only a few days ago but as it's a double pack if one fails I still have the other. Very quick to install, comes with instructions for the modifications needed to enable PWM. The CPU temp dropped quickly and I didn't realize it was so quiet for such a small fan.

Pros
  • Complete kit
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Great fan, easy to install, cools well.

I overclocked to 2.147GHz. I've seen temperatures in excess of 60 with a heatsink and a 40mm fan stress testing the CPU. This keeps it under 55. PWM works well, the fan is noisy when you get close to it. it would be cooler if he covered the ram as well. Edith pulled out the heatsink, aka extruded aluminum. Airflow is super restrictive. Filed the holes to open the airflow, I'm idling at 33 degrees Celsius, the stress test temperature is around 50 degrees Celsius. Not bad for 2 fans and tools for

LOUD AF. Computer Components

This fan is LOUD. Once I installed it, it got very noisy and didn't cool very well. Yes I could return them but I will try to modify the heatsink and use a better fan.
