Type of review

Bought a few months ago and slowly learning to hate it over time as I depend on this type of hardware and don't have time to constantly set it up and reboot. For a few hundred dollars I was looking for some speed and stability, but I was very wrong. At first the concept was great. Outstanding speed of inbound and outbound traffic, typically exceeding the advertised bandwidth of the provider. It starts out slow and then builds up. Then it falls off sharply. β€” Maybe you like wireless…

Pros
  • 2 year warranty with US customer service. See quick start guide and installation video. The router is an AC1900 dual band WiFi router with 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports. Ideal for HD video streaming and gaming.

No worries about modems

I bought this modem/router (SBG6900AC) to replace a Cox modem/router that we rented from Cox. Installation was easy, everything worked in 10 minutes. After that, not everything was very good, except maybe that he's quite attractive in all white. Unfortunately, the two things this device lacks are the top two – Wi-Fi range and a reliable, uninterrupted connection. This product has neither. Our apartment is about 1,100 square feet and is on one level, and our son's room is literally on the other…

Pros
  • Certified by Comcast Xfinity, Cox, Spectrum (Charter, Time Warner, Brighthouse Networks), Mediacom and many other US cable ISPs. Internet service required.
Cons
  • too dumb

Absolutely the worst modem I've ever bought.

This overview is for the ARRIS SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem/Wi-Fi Router AC1900 (SBG6900AC). Absolutely the worst modem I've ever bought. The only thing worse than this product is ARRIS' customer service. If you call them, they will point out all the possible settings that could be causing the problem and ask you to contact your ISP so they can fix it. I believe this works to prevent returns but certainly eliminates the possibility of future sales! I've had a technician twice in my house…
