Description of Astromania 1.25" 3.2Mm 58-Degree Telescope Planetary Eyepiece

Designed primarily for planetary observation (Moon, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn and more) but great for deep sky objects too. Comfortable eye relief averaging 16mm across the series. Threaded for standard 1.25- inch astronomy filters. Wide 58- degree Field of View (FOV) in 2.5mm to 25mm focal lengths. Equipped with an eyepiece barrel which could be rotated for adjustment and a convertible rubber ring for eyes. 1.25" fully multicoated eyepieces give maximum detail and definition across the entire 58 degree field of view. High transmittance and contrast ratio with least lateral chromatic aberration and scattering phenomenon. Each eyepiece has 5 lens elements in 3 groups. Experienced observers will truly appreciate such generous eye relief at significant magnifications. Exceptional at nearly eliminating lateral color aberration and light scatter while retaining excellent sharpness, contrast and definition. Obtain higher magnification with short focal length. It could bring you a better observation experience in a comfortable situation with high-contrast imaging. A cost-effective eyepiece, you will obtain more details that you have never seen before.

Poor coating. on my review.

Firstly I supposed it was fungus. But it is very low quality coating just like nail varnish applied with a brush, flaked and peeled. I think this is returned item or poor QC. But Astromania is both the producer and seller. I don't trust Astromania anymore.

Pros
  • Telescope Accessories
Cons
  • Difficult to adjust for different lighting conditions

Scratched eyepiece for my opinion

This eyepiece came with scratches in the len you don't realize it until you use your camera or you are using your telescope on daylight.

Pros
  • Obtain higher magnification with short focal length. It could bring you a better observation experience in a comfortable situation with high-contrast imaging. A cost-effective eyepiece, you will obtain more details that you have never seen before.
Cons
  • Heavy to carry around for outdoor observations

I tested this on a couple of stars, and on Jupiter. I only had a short viewing window, but this eyepiece gives a sharp image nearly to the edge of the field in a f/8 telescope. It is lightweight, has decent eye relief, and is easy to grip. Obviously a return, box was taped shut with packing tape, no padding in the box, other than an aftermarket zip lock bag, and the lower barrel was loose. These eyepieces come new with bubble wrap, wrapped in a larger bag, with a microfiber cleaning cloth.Edit:

Pros
  • Exactly what I ordered
Cons
  • Prone to fogging up during humid conditions
