Enough for a college dorm or a small apartment.

I really like Asus routers. I have network experience and have been supplying my home with professional Cisco products for a long time. Around 2015 I bought an Asus AC68 and in many ways loved its features, security and ease of setup. When it came time to buy my son a router for his dorm room, it was a no-brainer. Netgear, d-link and other consumer routers have so many security issues that are slowly being fixed. The OpenVPN configurations are really good. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it…

Great when it works!

Works well on 5GHz and AC side. Very fast speeds. BUT. I have a problem with the 2.4 GHz side. Many times a day an icon pops up on my computer (Wi-Fi 2.4GHz) indicating I'm connected but 'No Internet Service'. I disconnect and reconnect and it fixed it. This happens 3 or 4 times per surf night. My phone (5GHz) never drops out, but when I switch it to the 2.4GHz network, it also often crashes and says: Unstable connection." I've called ASUS three times and each time they die Reload firmware and…

Wi-Fi complex password

I bought a used one that seemed new and I'm wondering if the problem I'm having is the reason it was returned. When I connect wirelessly and use the password it keeps saying there are connection problems. However, when I connect via WPS, I have no problems. I installed everything on my previous network so I didn't have to reconnect at all. Otherwise it's ok, I prefer it to the purchased TP channel which never showed all connected devices and caused problems with my IP cameras. This shows the…

Works well in a small house, heats up

Was 'new' in a sealed box, date of manufacture 2015. I installed the Asuswrt Merlin firmware following the instructions on their website . Everything went smoothly. The router's Ethernet offers a full 65/5 connection speed on the connected desktop, according to speed test sites. 5GHz works well for two Roku sticks (2016 model). Both deliver a good picture with smooth playback (both show "good" signal strength in the on-screen menus). One Roku is next to the router and the other is 20 feet away…

Not a very strong range.

Set up was very easy. Once I plug it in, it automatically launches the browser to configure the router. The whole process probably took about 5 minutes. The presence of two areas is a plus. We have over 10 devices at home and we managed it easily. The only downside I found was that the range wasn't what I expected. We bought this to replace a Netgear N300 router hoping to upgrade to an AC router. With a Netgear router. I had a full signal throughout the house and yard. However, this router was…

Works great - Instructions in English

Ideal for a variety of PC operating systems and with enough bandwidth for the average user. Be sure to disable the proxy server settings in your PC's web browser before connecting the router to the PC during the initial setup. Quick start guide in English, as well as a complete manual in English on the included CD. Bought direct from Revain. Asus is based in Taiwan (not China) and has manufacturing facilities in several countries. Asus is also known for making the world's best PC motherboards…

A good VPN router (client+server) with enough power to use a VPN

When you spend $90 on a router (instead of $20 for a regular router these days), you expect more, and this one really delivers more. I bought it as a VPN router as ASUS is one of the few brands that support VPN client and server modes out of the box (OpenVPN as well as older protocols like PPTP and L2TP that are hardly used nowadays). other differences. from cheaper routers: 1. Fast dual processor. This is really important, especially if you use a VPN or have more than a few connections. (The…

Buy this router - Router

This is just the beginning, this thing is amazing, it took me 10 minutes to install and connect, so far I have not used all aspects of this thing. But when I have time I will do so and update my review. While my wife is the most supportive of this, she can walk to the bus stop (50 meters away) and stay connected while waiting for our son. I used parental controls, both my kids have 7th gen Fire 7 tablets and I set them to <18, very simple, I'm by no means network ENG but I know a trick or…
