From the pictures I'm under the impression it looks more like an oil filter wrench but this thing is RELIABLE. It's a real head. I overlooked that too it needed a 3/4" drive but it was an easy route to the dealership with the hub disassembled to get a 1/2" to 3/4" adapter. If you have a 54mm head, I would definitely recommend this.
Quality is ok but as a previous reviewer said it's a 3/4 drive. It doesn't say that anywhere in the description. I ended up welding some square tubing on the inside to make it a 3/8 drive as it wasn't worth sending it back and ordering something else. Hey ATD Tools, I don't see any reason why it should be 3/4 either. 54mm axle nuts don't usually have that much torque. A 3/8 drive would be better.
This product was for the axle nut on my 1995 Toyota T100. Little did I know I needed a 54mm head before replacing the rotors which ended in the hubs. Oops. This bushing is the only tool that has allowed me to press the bearings to exactly 34 ft/lbs before hand tightening the locknut. The torque specification is important as it allows the "play" in the bearings to be corrected for proper operation. You think Haynes and Chilton would see fit to mention this since most of the users of this book…
