Very easy to install

Very easy to install, bought to replace an old Attwood model that came with the boat. The only major difference is that the mounting screws are on the outside of the box, unlike the original version where the mounting screws were on the inside of the box.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Some bugs

Poor float design; Choose the more expensive model

The pump float is poorly designed and needs to be pressed firmly to activate the pump. So if the water comes in gradually (as it should), it won't work. You must physically tap the pump to activate it. Sensitivity cannot be set or adjusted. Really disappointing.

Came out after 4 months

The pump failed. It starts but doesn't drain. Tried everything. Checked fuses, cleaned wiring. I checked the drain with a bilge pump. Before shutting down completely, it shut down intermittently. I wouldn't have known until my bilge pump suddenly kicked in and when I checked I saw that the shower stall was full and crowded. After pressing the pump, it begins to drain. Twenty more words are needed, that's really stupid, Revane. You should be more polite to your customers.

The motor will burn out in 110 days! Wouldn't buy again.

This is the second Attwood 500 swamp we've bought and it only lasted 110 days! While other Attwood products we've purchased tend to be very durable, the 500 pump is NOT. And since we only purchased a 30-day warranty from Revain LLC, the 5-year warranty advertised in the product description is not true and will not be honored by Attwood. I will not buy it again nor will I recommend it to anyone.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Empty

Great price, good quality.

I installed this on my boat this weekend. Good product. The only improvement I could suggest would be to standardize the fitting on the outside and make it a male or female hose connection. I did this so I can quickly log in and out when needed. All of us who have used a push-in fitting know that after 30 seconds the hose just gets painfully removed from there. The hose thread on it allows you to use the opposite one-touch fitting, making maintenance easier.

works great and don't worry about backing up and overflowing .

My shower tray broke so I was looking for a direct replacement. I think I found it but I had to buy a big box and a small box. The reason is that I wanted a small box with a 750 GPH pump (the large pan didn't fit). So I set it up the way I wanted it and sold the stuff I didn't need on eBay. Can't say it was a direct replacement as the inlet holes and mounting screw holes have shifted. I assume improvements have been made over the years, but this has led to some changes and annoyance. Now that…

) Terrible. I had to turn them on and off manually

This box and pump was installed on my 43ft sailboat about 13 months ago. Has worked well for 12 months. After that, the float switch no longer switched the pump on. (You can slowly raise the float all the way by hand and nothing will happen - you'll have to "hit" it somehow for it to work.) Terrible. I had to turn it on and off manually. So I bought another pump about 30 days ago. This second pump worked fine, but the check valve caused problems pumping water out of the box. As a result, the…
