Description of Audiophile-Grade DROP + Dan Clark Audio Aeon Open X Planar Magnetic Headphones - Blue/Black

Optimized open-back performance: In the world of open-back headphones, few models have a reputation to match the Aeon Flow Open from Dan Clark Audio (formerly MrSpeakers). Drop-exclusive details: Featuring partially fenestrated earpads and reduced driver dampening, these Drop-exclusive headphones deliver a widened soundstage with the same punch and detail as the original. Taking a fan favorite further: How do you make great headphones better? You listen. When creating the Aeon Open X, we listened closely to its predecessor and input from our community of audiophiles. Warm and punchy sound: With a naturally appealing sound that’s both warm and punchy, plus excellent power response and ultra-comfortable fit, the Aeon Flow Open is close to perfect—close. To get it even closer, we worked with Dan Clark Audio to create the Aeon Open X. The Dan Clark Audio difference: Dan Clark is a renowned audio engineer who has been working in the high-end audio market for more than 20 years. In founding Dan Clark Audio, his mission was simple: to create high-quality headphones that allow listeners to experience incredible audio and nothing less.

Ooookay, so this is hifi.

I'd been working my up the audio ladder, but recently I got a new job and I decided what the heck, let's really go for it.I picked up these and a Schiit (yep, that's the name) magnius amp and modi dac.I've owned my fair share of 1 to 3 hundred dollar headphones, including the planar magnetic Hifiman he400i. While those headphones demonstrated the planar magnetic difference decently, I never really fell in love with their sound. After sticking with Dynamic Drivers for a little while, I saw…

Pros
  • Headphones, Earbuds & Accessories
Cons
  • Due to their size and design, these headphones may not be ideal for portable use or for people who are constantly on the move

Cable imbalance for my opinion

I notice there's more sound in the right ear than the left. I switch the left-right cables of the headphones, then all of a sudden I can hear more sounds on my left than on my left.Other than the imbalance caused by the headphones, it sounds immaculate! Also, the headband adjustment keeps slipping, which is a little annoying.

Pros
  • Over-Ear Headphones
Cons
  • Some users may prefer headphones with more emphasis on bass, which these headphones lack due to their focus on high-quality audio reproduction

Worth every penny! - my new review

These sound exquisite. I power them with a Sound Blaster AE-5 soundcard from my gaming PC. I'm so glad I purchased these. I wanted a Bass driven headphone, and I finally have that perfect sound I was craving. Thank you
