It does the work on the internals

I wanted to convert a VCR video stream to an .mpg file for burning to DVD. This inexpensive device made recording a breeze. I was concerned that there might be cryptic issues or incompatibilities as some reported, but it "just worked" for me. I installed the software and hardware and ran the software and then clicked to start and stop recording and the result was an .mpg file. This is on a Dell Dimension 4500 2.26GHz running the latest version of WinXP. This device doesn't have much (or any?)…

  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Useless features

Does its job well - fancy software needs some work

With the purchase of this pack you get two separate components: hardware and software. First, the hardware is just a simple little widget (which is good since the documentation is almost non-existent). On one end is a USB connector and an audio connector - you must use both - the USB for video connects to a USB port on your computer and the audio connector connects to a line-in port on your computer (Warning: I have Tried plugging it into my computer's microphone port since it's conveniently…

Pros
  • Many fit in
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Nice little unit but the sound suffers

If you're looking for a cheap option to store all your old VHS tapes onto DVD, this is the one for you. It took me some trial and error to get a good copy (I recommend you read the reference book first). It CONNECTS your computer - expect at least twice the movie length for video playback/recording, chapter point setting and DVD encoding/burning. Straight to DVD only if you don't want chapter breaks in logical places (make sure the chapters are in the right order - if you skip the movie they…

Pros
  • Nice packaging

  • Too stupid

Great product!: Internal TV tuner and capture cards

I've been looking for a capture device for a long time because I wanted to burn a DVD or VCD from my old video cassettes. I have to admit I wasn't sure about this product but it was worth it! After installing the driver, you simply plug in the device and you're done: the recording starts without any problems! There weren't even the aforementioned complaints about the audio dubbing. It was like looking at a VCR. The quality was acceptable for the price paid, and don't expect miracles from an old

works but there is error

UPDATE-- 12/18/05- The unit already stopped working, cheaply made, wish I had ordered it, can't get my money back now. But the tech support is good, I'm sending it back, I just want my money instead of a replacement. I had trouble getting it to work. Hubby plugged and unplugged it from the back of the computer, then it finally worked and the computer recognized it. I had email customer support and they responded in a timely manner every time. (I downloaded a newer driver from their website…
