Bought this for my mom because she kept cutting her finger trying to pit avocados. She was ecstatic when she opened this Christmas morning. Buy this for the accident prone avocado in your life! No emergency room calls since purchase.

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I bought this to slice hot dogs when adding them to dog food. I also chose this model because it is dishwasher safe; Not all models are dishwasher safe. It works great and I feel more comfortable than with a knife or kitchen scissors. I've also used it to slice wieners. A bit unorthodox but it works for me.

I tested another slicer and while it included the ability to slice avocados, some reviews said it didn't work well with ripe avocados. I bought this one instead and was surprised at how well it works for slicing avocados into pretty ones. Because the cutting portion of the tool was thin wire, it even worked when used with soft, ripe avocados. The instrument was fairly easy to clean with a faucet. I'm not usually a fan of specialized cooking tools, but this cuts an avocado very cleanly quickly - better than I could do without - and is worth the space it takes up in my utensil drawer. (The pit end wasn't that impressive, but the avocado I tested it on was just shy of being really ripe.) It works. Good weight, easy to clean in the dishwasher. Nice gift attachment for those who love to cook.

Third time use the end of the knife fell out of the handle. If you buy very ripe avocados this will work fine, but I buy five for the week and cut them up on Sunday so they're still pretty green as I don't want to have brown pulp by the end of the week. Everything was fine for the first two weeks, but in the third week the cutter began to loosen. I moved it and it came out. I put it back in and finished the job. I'll see how it works this week. As mentioned, this unit falls apart easily. I was hoping that since it's metal it would survive the plastic avocado tools I've broken in the past. The end of this avocado slicing tool protrudes from the handle. I have no idea why this thing seems to be bound with cheap glue, but don't expect it to last long.
