I personally didn't like this thermometer. This was exactly what I was looking for with a long sensor, but it is very difficult to read as the lines are very small and each line represents about 10 degrees. I just can't get super accurate readings when you need them.

Clip is bad and ejects hot oil splashes

Temperature seems accurate. However, the included clip is unusable. I frequently hit the thermometer, which releases the clamp and the thermometer squirts hot oil on me. Very dangerous. I use a kettle next to my pot of paperclips to keep it going. Definitely do NOT recommend buying this one.

Works well enough for brewing

I do partial mash home brewing and broke so many types of glass thermometers I was over it. I was saving for thermal foam and decided to try one of these. It works like a charm, locking into the side of my pot, heating water to hit it, and relatively accurate when checked with a digital thermometer. A good budget option that is much more durable than a float or lab thermometer.

Works perfectly, dishwasher safe.

I already had one of these from another purchase and decided to get a second one when I do big roasting events. This thing works great and I have trusted it to read the temperature of all types of oils and fats for many years. However, I would not recommend washing it in the dishwasher as simply submerging it under water will cause condensation to form inside. But it goes away when it dries.

  • Great selection

hard to read in kitchen and dining room

I thought it would help with frying but honestly I haven't tried it yet. One thing that was missing was the missing information that the clamp can be moved up and down for larger and smaller pots. You can see in the photo that there are a lot of reflections and the Fahrenheit temps are too close to the outer edge making them difficult to read, also they are too small. I have to admit that some of the reflections are from my camera, but a lot of the reflections are from the glass.

Good quality/accuracy but good value if you can get a working one

This is my third of these thermometers. The first one I stepped on broke after about 3 years of use; that has always worked well. The second was essentially DOA; it read A LOT of actual temperature. It would only register 50 when the actual temperature was 200. The third reads fairly accurately, just above the actual temperature (provides a small safety margin. It reads 350 when the actual temperature is around 335). So 2 out of 3 were good. However, I could not find a better option in terms of
