Works perfectly, fits jigsaw well

This is a fantastic, well thought out machine that is perfectly suited to its intended use. The supplied taps are also very high quality and very nicely cut. You can also purchase additional bits/taps for 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" threads.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works as promised. good for jig accessories

great tool. The router attaches in minutes and produces a 1" oak thread and nut in 15 minutes. The instructions were simple and clear. Tip: do a few test depths before the last one. Less deep with a flat thread at the top for a closer fit.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • definitely bad product

Works very well if you take the time to set it up

Works very well. It takes some fiddling to get it right. Just keep in mind that the threaded portion will look wavy until the threads engage on the back, so expect to trim about an inch after you've pushed the dowel through.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Zero

Don't buy a wooden yarn box, buy this one!

Very good. For the price of two wooden thread boxes, you get 3 thread counts and the ability to increase the number of thread counts. It's a little tricky to set up and adjust the threading depth, but once you get there, threading can be quick enough.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Excellent method of making wood screws

Works well but requires some dexterity to get it right. This is an easy way to make nuts and bolts. The result depends on your patience. I think it's better to do the nut first and then the bolt. How well the screw fits into the nut depends on the height of the cutter when you make the screw. 1/16 turn of the router height adjustment makes a big difference.

Pros
  • GOLS certified

best woodcarving solution

I've tried all sorts of woodcarving methods, from a whole host of homemade solutions to using store-bought woodcarving boxes. The Beal system is simply the best solution for making wood carvings. If you're using a faucet box, cut strings with a blade, and no matter how many precautions you take, I always try to get lots of shavings on the strings. Of course, chips will not affect the work of wood carving, but it will not look beautiful and not professional. Threading a router with a Beal…

Pros
  • Enjoyable

Expensive but perfect.

The only choice! Many woodworking shops (Woodcraft, Grizzly, etc.) sell threading die sets that use a thread box to cut external threads. I bought one from Wood River which was utterly incapable of making clean carvings in hardwood. He just ripped the strings out whether I used lube like they suggested or not. Then I tried single point tapping on a screw lathe. Same result: the low cutting speed required to cut an 8-speed thread simply snapped the wood. I think I could turn the threads on a…
