🐝 Bee Paper Black Bristol Pad: A Superior Choice for Endless Creativity in 9x12 Size Review

That's all I use for portraits of my pets. Combined with quality colored pencils, this paper holds up well and makes the colors pop.

I used this for pastels and it's a nice smooth surface to work with. There is an odd 1/8 inch lip sticking out from underneath, but overall I like it for the different type of finish.

Bought this paper to make calligraphy ink samples. The paper is lightly textured but smooth enough that a sharp calligraphy pen works well and doesn't snag too much. The paper is thick enough that the sheets are rigid and won't bend, so cardboard may be a better choice. The paper will absorb some water, but like most materials of this thickness, it will curl the paper.

BEE PAPER CO is a heavyweight. The matte black finish looks great, a little glossy. The textured surface surprised me; this seems too rough for what I was trying to do - it's a great surface nonetheless, but I don't think I can achieve the hard edges shown on the pad cover with this textured surface (see my Work). I tested the back, which is smoother (see example) and offers more control. I used Prismacolor Deluxe Wax Crayons; maybe a pencil without wax would work better. I don't have a non-wax

Although I love paper, the company leaves a lot to be desired. It's missing the pack size and quantity - can I only get 18x24 in packs of 25 for over $100? What makes business sense when you look at the size and price of other lasts? If you calculate the price per sheet, 9x12 is about $1.20, 11x14 is about $1.60, 18x24 is 4.66, and 20x26 is 4.15.
