I bought six of these (ultrasonic) deer whistles. I placed them forward facing on the underside of my front fender as instructed. Most people would say it's "overkill," but I kept putting on more and more, thinking two wasn't enough. My guess was correct. Deer warning whistles all work the same, it's hard to put them in anything other than 3. They're easy to install and do what they're supposed to do. . You can leave the base on the car and don't take the whistle off until you go through the car wash. You have to be driving at about 30 miles per hour for the whistle to sound. For starters I work 4 nights a week for 5-6 hours every night on the road. I live in a small town and spend a lot of time on the streets across the country. After encountering deer last year and seeing so many of them this year, in October I decided to buy them for our main machine. After installing them in less than 7 days, I physically watched 5 different deer look straight at me and then run in the opposite direction from my car! That's too much coincidence for me to believe they don't work.
