Instead, the base is made of steel, the lid is made of hard rubber and the body also seems to be made of rubber. The wiper rod included in the kit is also made of steel. You know this is the best little feather duster! I was looking for something to sprinkle diatomaceous earth on. I spray my yard and garden with DE to rid it of harmful pests. I was skeptical after seeing all the mixed reviews but I'm so glad I tried it! When used, it releases a small portion into the air, but this greatly increases the amount used compared to manual distribution.

I bought mine (green base) in 2015 to wipe down borax behind some kitchen cabinets (borax didn't help my ant problem but at least a rag was effective). Yes, a coffee can is cheaper, but good luck trying to direct the sprinkles or place them next to the wall where the ants are actually going. This feather duster doesn't work very well. It spits out the contents in clumps, not "foggy" dust. It comes with a steel bearing in the case to break up the dust, but it's not quite enough for the task. I added some pebbles to help but it still throws out too much powder (I use it to apply Drione). I tried different settings but nothing improved the distribution of the powder. Very scary. I've had it for a few years and haven't opened it yet because the powder is such that it's very easy to inhale and I don't think I can get it in the device without spraying it on myself. So I didn't use it. And I never had anything to use it, thank goodness! I bought it more as a preventative, but I don't think it will prevent something like this. LOL if I ever have anything I'll risk it.

I don't know why I didn't receive the towel shown in the photo. I got another green rag called a pesticide rag on Amazon that was more expensive. I really wanted this duster as it had the best reviews and you can see through it. The delivery was quicker than expected; Arrived 5 days earlier than planned. So far I like this rag compared to mustard. He puffs flat, not in chunks. You can control the amount of air you exhale with pressure. I live in an apartment and suspect bed bugs. I haven't seen
