We bought this for our Sunbeam SCM1896. We couldn't find the filter in any of the local stores and it fit perfectly. Better price than what we found them for earlier. Works great no complaints.

The metal mesh helps the filter hold its shape, which is nice if you frequently take the unit apart for cleaning. During this slightly wetter winter, it's taking in about two gallons per day at low fan speeds, which is normal for the area it's used in.

Works as it should and when used with a bacteriostatic solution lasted about 3 months but the metal support mesh wasn't very strong and folded very easily when I used it turned weekly wick. After 3 months the screen was dangerous, its sharp edges flew out at random angles.

Not as good as branded filters. I bought two of these for my two humidifiers. The filter check counters on or both never turned blue, meaning there wasn't much moist air coming out of the filter. Humidifiers lasted much longer and were less effective than using a brand name filter. I ended up buying another set of better filters and throwing them away. I do not recommend.

After using the factory filter that came with my new humidifier for a few months I had to replace this filter as it was a bit cheaper and the reviews were good. I learned a valuable lesson: this filter does NOT absorb properly, my filter gauge showed low humidity in the unit's airflow. And yet, after a month of use, there are traces of mold on the filter, which the factory filter has never had after many months of use. I will not buy again.
