The lid itself is great. The product advertised rubberized tips on both ends of the four elastic cords to prevent the air conditioner from being scratched. Great idea, but the rubberized tips come off too easily. One broke off when opening the packaging. When I then had to remove the cover from the air conditioner, all but one came off. I will use tape around the ends. Rubberized tips need to be glued.

This product gives me two options: one cover for winter weather, mainly rain and leaves, and another when the rain stops and I just need a mesh cover to keep the leaves out! I installed the winter cover in minutes by simply clipping the hooks into the grommets and then onto my air conditioner! Simple, easy to put on and take off! It seems very durable and I hope to use it for several years. At $21, that's a steal! BTW, I live in California and don't have to deal with snow, but snow should work…

As other owners have said, elastic cords could be better. They have the cheapest design that comes with disadvantages. The metal hooks are not covered with plastic and the plastic cap covering the metal tip comes off too easily. This allowed the metal hook to easily scratch the metal cover on the air conditioning compressor. So I decided to modify the cords by replacing the metal hooks with hard plastic hooks. A set of 10 Revain hard plastic hooks costs about $11 and is a worthwhile investment.

Was surprised at how good the quality was (thick canvas material). It was very easy to pop out in under a minute. There's a very strong wind where I am, and this thing stays in place. This is the best way to get coverage. Covers only the top to prevent snow and ice from damaging the lines and prevents rodents from finding a safe, covered, warm place to hibernate and nest/chew on the line. Looks like a quality product (durability to be confirmed) and the 36" square fits my 29" square well (above). Installation wasn't difficult. One person complained that his metal bungee cord hooks were missing protective caps. All 8 of my hooks had caps.
