As other owners have said, elastic cords could be better. They have the cheapest design that comes with disadvantages. The metal hooks are not covered with plastic and the plastic cap covering the metal tip comes off too easily. This allowed the metal hook to easily scratch the metal cover on the air conditioning compressor. So I decided to modify the cords by replacing the metal hooks with hard plastic hooks. A set of 10 Revain hard plastic hooks costs about $11 and is a worthwhile investment. Plastic hooks are designed for use in kayaks, cars, trucks or boats. Therefore, they must hold the air conditioning compressor cover well.
