Locally installed SWAAGA automates use of AWS DataSync, making transfer and management of science data fast, automated and secure. Why is using local triggers important for effective data transfer protocols
The ease of implementation and configuration. It's easy to get up and running with SWAAGA. There are many options available for customization. I have used it for transferring data from a local server to an S3 bucket. The only thing that I don't like about this product is that it doesn't support file level permissions.
We had a need to move some large files from our local servers to S3 buckets. This was done by creating a new folder in the bucket and then copying all the files into that folder.
Pros
Also you can add rules so users cannot delete certain folders/files which make sharing content between teams safer if not managed properly (e.g.: non tech savvy people)
The best thing about this service was that it worked smoothly without any problem at all with my institution's servers! It helped me to automate the process which I used before manually copying files from one location in Dropbox folder (which contains both research materials & software)to another computer through command line or terminal window where our main server resides!! This automation made things much easier by taking away human error risk factor associated within manual fileβ¦
