Description of 💡 Maximize Precision with BIQU Compatible Stepper StepStick Controller - An Overview

A4988 driver board widely used in 3D printers and small CNC machines. Simple step and direction control interface. Thermal protection, over-current protection, ground fault protection. Five different step resolutions: full-step, half-step, quarter-step, eighth-step, and sixteenth-step. Adjustable current control lets you set the maximum current output with a potentiometer, which lets you use voltages above your stepper motor’s rated voltage toachieve higher step rates.

So I've only tested 2 so far. In all my searches for using it for a DIY CNC machine I'm making, I've had a few issues. Documentation is limited. It took me forever to get them to refer to some Raspberry Pi code I had and then messed around with the schematics a bit, the code doesn't work properly. I was just playing around with the driver to understand why it activates when any part of my body approaches it and no solution was found. After test after test, I saw many strange bugs. It worked…

Two stars because two drivers worked

First of all, the biggest problem with these drivers is the potentiometers. All 5 potentiometers were difficult to adjust and the fragility of the potentiometers didn't help. A potentiometer failed completely when the current reading was too low to be used for 46ncm stepper motors on the machine. Two other drivers didn't respond at all and didn't drive a 26 to 65nm stepper motor into a stepper driver slot on 3 different motherboards. But the two drivers that worked worked pretty well for the…

They work great

I was having some weird problems with my printer so I took them out to switch drivers and see if that helps. They fixed one of the issues and have been working fine ever since. They come fully assembled and are great value for money. The only thing that might be an issue is that the heatsinks will likely sit on top of some capacitors as well as the chip. The thermal tape seems to insulate it, but I don't like the heatsink touching other components. It's a little tricky to get the shells into a…
