Blackmagic Design Converter BMD CONVCMIC SH Review

An excellent device and a great company. We have used Black Magic products for many years. Micro Converter SDI to HDMI just didn't work for me. Revains return policy was great. Many Thanks.

Reliably does exactly what it was designed to do. But study your task - know in advance what HD/SDI signal your device will produce and what HDMI signal your device needs to see in order to work. This field does not perform frame rate conversion, resizing, or resampling. For example, don't expect it to feed in an SDI 1080 30p signal and get a 60i output.

I bought these for a large church's campus TV network and they are unreliable. Of the 13 devices purchased, 4 have failed and are just over a year old. Even with constant firmware updates on each device, the failure rate is unacceptable and Blackmagic does not endorse their products. While their interfaces are great (although I won't buy Blackmagic products again because they don't have customer support), their converters are not. I do not recommend them to anyone for commercial use.

I use this thing all the time. I have a BlackMagic Ursa Pro camera with SDI outputs and I use this thing to convert that signal to HDMI that I can plug into almost any monitor, wherever I am. To give you an idea of how important this thing is to my workflow. Okay folks these units would be great but they have a terrible bug that causes loud noises in the audio. Blackmagic support is aware of this issue and vaguely promised they would work on it, but it has been many months and there is still no fix. I ran an SDI cable 200 feet down the hall to another room to send an HD signal to an old projector. I needed this on the projector side to convert from SDI to HDMI as the projector only has HDMI input and my Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio HD has SDI output. In my opinion after spending hundreds of dollars buying different types of SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI converters, buy Blackmagic Design micro converters if you want that the product works without problems. My experience has been that I get good video with other unnamed mono priced and other branded devices (but similar ones), but audio goes in and out and just causes problems all the time. Some audio levels are great on some devices, and on some other devices the audio level is so low that you
