I finally found a company that sells A+ grade heaters with a cord long enough to reach the plug! I set it to 78 degrees and when it was off I checked the temperature of the tank with a thermometer and it was exactly 78 degrees! Now I get 300 watts for my big tank.

I got a beta aquarium with a plant on it, couldn't figure out why my bed just wasn't floating around, kind of sluggish until I spoke to her friend who suggested I buy a heater for my fish tank and suggested this one, i put it in the fish tank and my beta is swimming around all over the place, best buy now, highly recommend!

Excellent tank heater! My Betta is so happy now! I set it to 75F and could probably be warmer as he likes to hide next to him and run out when I visit him. :) I used to worry about this, but now I know it won't be freezing in Maine this winter. It actually saves me money because, and I know it's silly and crazy, we didn't lower the temp to the usual 64 degrees at night to keep our little fish warm. So anyway! Very satisfied!

This heater broke in two after just a month. I was initially disappointed with the quality of the product, but did a little research and found that glass heaters often break when they're on and the water level drops below a certain level (e.g. when changing the water). So that's my fault, although it would be nice to have that direction included in the heater. That aside, it worked fine when I had it and I'm glad it broke into two easy-to-extract pieces rather than complete.

. Used the heater for about 9 days. It turns on and off and keeps the water temperature. However, it works around two to three degrees of heat. I have a separate thermometer in the tank to make sure the heater is working properly. (If I want 78°F, I set the heater to around 74-76.) As other reviewers have mentioned, the red knob is difficult to adjust once installed. very narrow in a curve, ok for the price.

If you read other reviews that say "It killed my fish" I'm sure it could be due to a lack of research or that they put it in a smaller tank have than it should have. it was. Please don't boil the fish and be smart, use a right size fish tank. I recommend nothing less than 5 gallons anyway. Don't torture the fish thinking the betta should be 1-3 gallons.
