Turn off heater during water change
This heater broke in two after just a month. I was initially disappointed with the quality of the product, but did a little research and found that glass heaters often break when they're on and the water level drops below a certain level (e.g. when changing the water). So that's my fault, although it would be nice to have that direction included in the heater. That aside, it worked fine when I had it and I'm glad it broke into two easy-to-extract pieces rather than complete.
