After switching to this light I lost 7 healthy chicks. Despite the open door, they all died. It was very quick - less than an hour. Terrible! This product is not safe for animals!

We had 8 happy and healthy chicks. Switched to this bulb and failed and died 2 hours every 8. Otherwise NOTHING has changed. It had to be that light. Two chickens died a few hours after I replaced the heating pad with this one. Both were healthy chickens. I had a 150w ceramic lamp with no bulb and decided to switch to it when it got colder. It was only about 50 degrees outside and only 56 degrees under the lamp so they weren't too hot. One died near the light and the other was found dead near the door as if trying to escape.
