This is my lanky 80 lb dog with an XXL coat. It sits well on the chest but is a few inches shorter in the back. He usually wears a 28-30 inch coat (back size) that keeps his thighs warm. I love this concept though, so I'm using this jacket as a pattern to make a new one with a longer back.

This is a great heavy fleece dog coat/jacket. As some of the other reviews say, going up in size is best. I'm glad I did. My dog will be very warm in this coat. The only downside is that there is no hole for a leash. Since it's not rainproof, I wear a Kurgo dog vest over it on rainy days. It costs money.

Very good quality. Thick. My mini golddoodle weighs 27 pounds. Based on the sizes, I was supposed to go for a medium, but I went for a large. The medium size would fit him perfectly but I'm glad I went for the large. It's easier to put on and the zip is easy because we kept his fur long in the winter and I always had a hard time zipping up his old coat without his fur hanging. I have 8 winter coats for my dog. So far none have really fit. Australian Shepherds are LONG dogs. Although the mantle was large enough to cover their girth, they were never long enough to reach from neck to tail. This one does.
