Ideal for Game Boy Zero โ€“ Raspberry Pi Zero

I originally needed this to build Gameboy Zero. After reading a bit on the Gameboy Zero forums, I realized that everyone got lucky with this screen. It didn't need any modification to work on the Gameboy Zero and it worked great with my Raspberry Pi! The packaging was fairly basic, with a strainer inside the box. When used as intended, it should easily connect to an RCA cable. For my needs I disassembled it and used only the LCD screen and the control board. In order for this to work with theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • One-year trial
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Raspberry PI Settings

I bought this for my Raspberry Pi computer, tempted by the advertised resolution of 640 x 480. Unfortunately a real device only has 1/4 of that or 320 x 240 pixels. The text is very fuzzy with the Raspberry Pi's default display settings, but it's still possible to use the command line (assuming you don't have to carefully distinguish between individual letters). To get a setting where one image pixel roughly equals one screen pixel, I edited the following settings in /boot/config.txtโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Security

Perfect for my astronomy hobby!

Good compact size, good price, the downside is that the screen is small, obviously I can sit back and enjoy the objects I am looking at, the screen is not too bright to impairing my vision a lot at night. Telescope focuser security camera which I was able to connect the CVBS for the monitor to with a BNC cable and turn on the monitor with the monitor quite well! The approx. 2 hours I spent on the battery had 4 cells left. Happy with this monitor for the price. The screen is prone to scratchesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

This is a great small display for projects

This is a great small display for projects, especially for the Rapsberry Pi. Whether you're trying to minimize space or fit it into a project case, the ledge of the socket pops out immediately and the case disassembles like an iPhone (no screws, just a latch and some glue). Just stick a thin screwdriver into the connecting line (between the chrome and black) and the front will pop out instantly. As with all those tiny LCDs, if you're fiddling with loose parts outside of the case, be aware thatโ€ฆ

GBZ screen good for overhead video

Bought for use in the Gameboy Zero project. I got "option 7" in the sudomod wiki. I removed the voltage regulator IC by snipping off the legs with pliers and soldering a small wire between the voltage input pad and the regulator's output pin 2 on the board because I wanted to supply it with 5V directly. Some manuals suggest this isn't necessary, but I noticed that leaving the regulator on caused the input voltage to drop from 5V to 4.7V and the screen to flicker. Works great, good clear picture

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Only works with Pi or newer consoles.

I'm using this to make a portable Pi console, when I tested it with my N64 and SNES it looked broken and scrolled endlessly, but it works fine with any other console after the N64 and works well with Pi . See the second photo where the wire needs to be soldered to make it work with 5V. The voltage regulator chip that the wire is soldered to looks and works the same on other versions of this screen. Apparently this seller has multiple screens, some have buttons some don't, some are labeled andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
