Sold as a 4K adapter but can barely display 4K at 30Hz. They mention it a few times in the description but it's not that obvious. I tried this with a Samsung Odyssey+ VR headset and it resulted in me not being able to go above 60Hz. Plugged it into an HDMI 2.0 port right on the graphics card and I was able to get 90Hz, which is a lot smoother. So now I'm stuck with this useless adapter that I'll really only use in 1080p.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Fading

Doesn't work with Oculus or my 4K TV

Based on the reviews on this product I decided to go with Cable after unsuccessfully purchasing various Displayport to HDMI adapters, cable converters, etc. Questions. It looks like a lot of people are in a similar position when looking to connect their Oculus to a PC connected to a 4k TV with just an HDMI output. So I have 3 DP outputs and only 1 HDMI with 4 HDMI inputs on my TV. I was hoping that this product would be able to stream my GTX 1080ti to either my Oculus or my Sony XBRโ€ฆ

Fixed an Oculus Rift CV1 stuttering issue I was having.

I have a fairly powerful gaming rig, but I'm having an issue with my Oculus CV1 freezing. When playing games like Beat Saber it would look correct due to spatial distortion, but the input would freeze and there could be a noticeable visual lag. My guess is that the HDMI cable is "disconnected" which froze everything (including the inputs) for a split second. In any case, fast games like beatsabers were all but impossible. I don't know if it was a bandwidth issue or what. It seems to be workingโ€ฆ

Works great with Oculus Rift, supports 4k@30hz

Excellent for its intended purpose. Bought for my Oculus Rift after buying a 4k TV which now occupies my only HDMI port on my GPU. I didn't want to switch cables every time I use the Rift, and I also wanted to show my gameplay on a big screen TV. I started trying active HDMI to DP adapters which didn't work for Oculus (no display signal to headset). After trying two other brands I decided to give this passive adapter a try as it claims to support a VR headset. My Rift works perfectly, haven'tโ€ฆ

Works with Oculus Rift

Oculus Rift comes with an HDMI cable that plugs into the back of your graphics card. The problem is that I have a Samsung 4K QLED TV that I used as my primary monitor and it requires an HDMI port on the back of my EVGA 1080 Ti graphics card. Oculus was supposed to have a DP (Display Port) connector, but it didn't. And that's where this little fool comes in. It allows you to plug any HDMI cable into an adapter and then plug it into a Displayport (which all graphics cards from 2014 and up have)โ€ฆ

Worked great to turn my 42 inch 4k tv into an hp workstation monitor.

Worked great, my 4k tv worked on my hp workstation. My graphics card only had DP or DVI-D connectors and I heard DVI-D doesn't support 4k so I bought this adapter and now the display works fine. There is one issue that still bothers me, but it's not the cable's fault. HDMI only supports 30kHz refresh rates. You have to use a full DP capable TV to get a higher refresh rate so the mouse is really lagging. I've tweaked the mouse to be less annoying, but that's the only downside so far. But rightโ€ฆ

Finally got an adapter that supports resolutions above 1920x1080

Finally solved my problems with this adapter HDMI port on my graphics card, but both my monitor and Oculus Rift need an HDMI port. I used a cheap HDMI displayport adapter for my ultra wide (2650 x 1080) monitor and had many issues with the display remaining black for minutes after starting Windows and waking from sleep. Mode. I decided it was an adapter so I bought an HDMI cable for the Displayport Gatorcable. That gave me the same problems too. I found the adapter that came with myโ€ฆ

Even works with HTC Vive

This review is for the 4K UHD version of this adapter. I tested this passive adapter from Cable Matters and the active adapter from UGREEN with my graphics card (GTX 1080 with three DP ports, one HDMI port and one DVI port) and the following output devices: TV with 1920x1080 resolution (Samsung UN48H6350) - technically used 120Hz, no HDMI input above 60Hz - 5.1 Surround Receiver (Yamaha RX-V377) - TV with receiver in between - Old TFT display (Samtron 94B 1280x1024) via RevainBasics HDMI-DVIโ€ฆ
