Description of 🔌 SFF 8087 Breakout Cable by Cable Matters

Internal Mini SAS data cable connects a RAID or PCIe controller with an SFF-8087 port to 4 discrete SATA drives; Mini SAS to SATA adapter provides reliable internal connectivity between a Serial attached SCSI controller card in a computer system and direct attached storage devices with a SATA connector. Leverage hardware raid performance with this SATA multi-lane cable; Two cables can connect up to 8 SATA drives to span RAID controller arrays and share performance across two PCIe 2.0 x8 lanes with compatible host bus adapters; Supports up to 6Gbs data transfer rate per drive. DIY or pro installers both appreciate the convenience of a forward fan-out cable with an internal mSAS connector when expanding storage needs; 3 foot cable harness of SAS to SATA cable provides sufficient length for internal cable management; Slim ribbon cables minimize airflow impact in a computer case. Flexible design of SAS breakout cable includes acetate cloth tape over slim ribbon cables for strain relief to protect cables without rigidity; Woven mesh sheath covers half of the cable for easy routing; P1 to P4 markers provide easy ID after installation; Low profile SATA connectors have easy-grip treads with stainless steel latches to prevent accidental disconnection and reduce vibration disconnection.

does the job. in Computers and Accessories

The cables are well made although much more fragile than a standard SATA cable. It was long enough (actually too long) for my standard tower body. Overall, I wouldn't recommend plugging and unplugging these cables frequently due to their flimsy design, but they get the job done flawlessly. There are retaining clips on the SATA side, which is nice. The only problem I had might be my SAS RAID card, but the numbered stickers on the cable were reversed. Cable 1 was actually port 4 on my card, so I…

worked so well will be getting another one

While experimenting with new storage options at home, I recently bought a used PERC SAS controller and needed a multi-drive adapter. This adapter cable did it! Easy connection. Once I booted the machine, <CTRL>-R allowed me to configure the disks I had and they were all easily recognized by the SAS controller. The PERC controller has two connectors, this cable occupies one and allows you to connect (4) SATA drives. Adding a second cable expands to (8) SATA drives. While this isn't a…

cables are excellent. And it's one of the few that runs 100% error-free on SATA3 drives - at a full 6G. 3ware is much thicker and throws MANY errors at full 6G and in fact sometimes my HBA gives up and uses 3ware at 3G. However. The small metal spring clips on the ends of these cables on the HBA/RAID controller side are not very good. I had to use tiny tools to bend the ultra-thin sheet metal they used as springs further outward to get a CLIP when plugged into the RAID card. otherwise they may…

Just what I needed

I have a super micro server that bought the built in SATA connectors for the 2.5" hot swap bay on the back of the system. I wanted to use a pair of SuperMicro DOM for boot drives, which of course were the only SATA connectors on the board that would support DOM, the other 8 SATA ports needed this patch cord (0-3/4-7 in the port pair) - I was Not sure if the shorter version of this (0.5m) would do, so I ordered this 1m cable as well as the 0.5m version, knowing I could probably only use 1. It…

Works well. Sensitive.

We work well. Bought for use with the LSI card in my full tower media server. The tower has 11 5.25" bays to give an idea of the size and the LSI card sits fairly close to the bottom rear. I only have two of the three footers because I don't play that game lol, but one of the long ones to reach the top of the case and the other shorter one would suffice unless I get into something serious. Dressing. This cover is so old it doesn't matter, you can keep things clean by hiding it, it's not an…

SATA connector to SAS connector

This cable is typically used to connect up to 4 separate SATA drives to a SAS controller. SAS controller PCIe adapter expansion cards can be purchased cheaply online. Once I had both the SAS controller card and the hard drives, I was able to hook everything up and it worked! This particular wiring harness has 4 separate SATA cables that go into a SAS connector which then connects to a connector on the controller board. The advantage of SAS, however, is that very thin cables are used to connect…

Good cables. 25mm (1 ") connector.

Good material. -1 star because SATA connectors are too long. Total plastic length 25mm (1"). 19mm (3/4 inch) extended when mated. The SATA connector they are replacing was only 17mm (5/8 inch) long. They connect to the back of my rear panel and extend to the case fans. These big shots almost collide with the fans. It's mostly my fault for not checking my space and exact dimensions, but I shouldn't assume these are unusually long SATA connectors. FYI: The overall length of the mini SAS connector

Great cables just make sure your card is good :P

I originally thought it was terrible due to disc read errors and gave it a 2 star rating. I've since changed this as the SATA controller card was actually the culprit. These cables do their job well, just make sure you route them properly and for heaven's sake don't tangle or twist them around each other as that will only contribute to more read errors. ;) Pros: Beautiful color, great flexibility in cable management, and long range! I needed 2 feet for the cables and the rest only 1.5 feet, so…

Worked great and solved my parity sync issues in Unraid

I first got a set of SAS SATA forward breakout cables on ebay along with my order for an LSI SAS 9207 SATA/SAS HBA hard drive controller card ordered. They were definitely cheaper on ebay and the ones on ebay worked great for 6 months until I decided to upgrade my unraid server to a brand new Ryzen build. When rebuilding while disconnecting the LSI HBA card, I accidentally pulled on part of the black sleeve covering the SAS connector barrel area. Turns out it was just cosmetic. After running a…

Excellent cable, suitable for cables and connections

I needed this SFF 8087 SATA Forward Breakout Cable, 3.3ft, which has an SFF 8087 connector on my LSI MegaRAID 9260-8i RAID SBA -Card with 4 SATA connects hard disk. Cables of this type where you have a SFF 8087 connector for 4 SATA or SAS hard drives are thin cables due to the cable connections, this cable looks well made. The connectors appear to be of good quality and fit snugly into their receptors, the main wires of the SFF connector are wrapped in heavy insulator to protect the cables and…
