The perfect little thing.

My dead computer left some hardware in good condition. An existing DVI cable, audio cable, and power cable are all I need to connect this multiport and give my computer monitor a second life. I can connect and play my SNES Classic Mini. The only thing you might need is a micro USB cable (not included) to power the device and voila!

This worked very well for the purpose I needed.

This worked very well for the purpose I needed it for (video transfer from HDMI to DVI-D), no problem. Unusually, I didn't need USB power at all. I couldn't get anything through the 3.5mm audio output, USB powered or not, but I suspect this can only work if converted from HDMI. to VGA. This will successfully establish an HDCP connection, at least when using DVI.

Doesn't work well with HDMI to VGA adapters

I connected it to my computer's HDMI port, connected USB power to the computer, and then connected two external monitors via the HDMI and VGA ports of the adapter connected. The monitors do not recognize any input and the laptop does not recognize any connected monitors. I think maybe I got a non-working device. I even tried different USB outputs on my computer just in case something went wrong, but nothing. I hope the seller can help me solve the problem or send a replacement. Many Thanks.

Good Universal HDMI Multi Video Adapter

I bought this HDMI VGA device to be versatile when connecting to different types of monitor ports. I had no problems with this cable adapter. There are no problems with video synchronization, and other problems have not shown themselves. I use this device for testing and viewing videos while testing different computer systems. I am satisfied with this product and the seller's speed of delivery. This unit arrived a few days earlier than it was supposed to.

Yes 3 displays but 2 mirrors

I'm keeping this because it's a useful little hint. Not 5 stars though because I think the description and answers about connecting 2 monitors are a bit misleading. You can connect a laptop (Chromebook in my case) to 2 monitors, one via DVI and one via VGA. It recognizes the second display and allows you to extend your desktop BUT display 3 can only show display 2 so there is no true three monitor setup. The included instructions state this clearly, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere inโ€ฆ

Ideal for connecting your Roku to your computer monitor and powered speakers.

Ideal for connecting Roku to computer monitor and powered speakers. Long story short, I have a music room where I don't need a TV or a computer or a cable box or anything, but I do need YouTube and Pandora functionality. I had a replacement flat screen without HDMI. It works perfectly, the Roku's picture and sound are great, no lag, stuttering or any issues. I just plugged it in, no power or anything needed. Well done, especially at this price!

Doesn't connect multiple monitors

connectors and fast switching between my Windows laptop and Linux desktop over a single HDMI. I have tested this on Windows, Linux and Mac using a USB to HDMI 2.1 power cable. Needless to say this was a waste of my time and money. The dongle only allows you to connect one display at a time, so connecting both VGA and HDMI at the same time will NOT work. I use GTX 1050 ti GPUs for Windows, GTX 630M for Linux and Radeon HD 6750M for Mac.

I used this to solve a video compatibility issue!

I love this item very much! It works as advertised. This helped me solve a compatibility issue with my Kano and Asus HD computer monitor. When connected directly to my Kano, my monitor would not display an image due to a signal issue when using a direct HDMI DVI-D connection. When I connect the Kano to this device and then connect this device to a monitor, the picture is perfect and the stereo sound comes out through the 3.5mm audio jack. Surprisingly, the Kano can power this device via HDMIโ€ฆ

Does exactly what it says. Get one!

Wow where do I start. I bought this to use with my Steam Link which only has HDMI output for video. I had an old VGA/DVI monitor that I wanted to use as a display, but it didn't have speakers. I have HDMI connected to Steam Link and am using the USB cable for power (not sure if I need it or not) and am using DVI for my monitor. I connected small USB powered speakers (also powered by Steam Link) to a 3.5mm headphone jack and now I can stream anything from Steam or minimize it to stream greatโ€ฆ
