In my experience, 4mm is no more than snipping off the end with toenail scissors and rarely works. 10mm sometimes works, but only if the paper is thick enough. I think I figured it out. When I received this item yesterday the first thing I did was lift it up in the air as I tried it and even held it upside down. The cards came out incredibly inconsistent, although I could "feel" my paper lined up perfectly every time. Here's what I think works. It should be lying flat and face up on the table.
