Good enough for grandma, good enough for me. No replacement yet!

This stuff sucks. There are some things our grandparents used that are still the best in the business. Like CLR and baking soda. Stinks but works very well. I always have some on hand. It's like Drano or plumber's tape, eventually you need it, so just hold on to it, it won't go bad (which I know).

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Loses Calcium for Years

So I live in San Antonio, Texas where the water is very hard. I was about to move out of my apartment but I had all the calcium in my sink and bathroom. I tried so many cleaners and a lot of elbow grease but nothing worked. However, the CLR has done its job! After leaving it for 2 minutes I scrubbed and removed years of calcium. I had to repeat the treatment several times in some places, but in the end it was all gone. Works perfectly.

Item received exactly as advertised.

This product works. Had a slow running custom faucet head encrusted with white calcium for hard water. As a result, the tap water drained slowly even after cleaning the steel filter from sand. I soaked the faucet head in a beaker in the recommended proportions of CLR and water to water. Reinstalled the faucet head and now the water will flow through the faucet head as fast as when it was new. Much cheaper than buying a new faucet and having a plumber install it.

Great thing - great tip

He had a toilet that couldn't be flushed completely because the inside was clogged with scale. Here's a tip: turn off the water at the wall. Remove the top of the tank. Flush the toilet before emptying the tank. Flush the remaining water down the toilet. Then lift the flapper valve and pour the contents of the container into the opening of the valve. Leave for one to two hours. This allows the CLR to penetrate inside the toilet and remove debris that you will never get to. Put the top back on…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

CLR is gr8 Household cleaning stuff

We have very hard water in our apartment building. Heavy dark limescale often builds up on the bottom of the toilet, which also clogs the drain holes under the rim. It gets pretty rusty under the rim too. The washing efficiency is greatly reduced. To conserve water here in drought-prone California, I often don't flush water #1 every time. (I live alone.) Calcium in urine can contribute to buildup in the toilet drain. I also use CLR on showerheads and faucets where limescale can negatively…
