Lovely easy to use pens, my kids and I enjoyed trying them out with different inks. I suggest using lighter cartridges with wider tips, otherwise they tend not to deposit enough ink to be very noticeable. Yellow feels particularly like a highlighter color. We've tested them with the cartridges that came with them, as well as bottled Diamine Northern Lights and Bovine Blood and bottled Chinese Turquoise ink. Everything is beautiful.

These are amazing pens. I'm good at calligraphy but this is a good set for someone new to the art. And the best part is that my left handed twin sister claims she can't calligraphy but she can write calligraphy with these pens. Well, if you don't have the patience, I don't recommend using these pens, as some of them take a little time for the ink to start over. And the cleaning process also requires patience. But overall I love them as a quick set with lots of colors to choose from!

This is a good calligraphy set for the price. You will receive 6 pens with different tip widths and ink cartridges. If you don't like cartridges, there is an ink converter in each pen. I had no problems inserting the cartridge into the pen. Ink flow was instantaneous and writing was smooth. I've never had ink leakage. The caps do not fit the top of the pen. I purchased this kit for a project that requires a variety of tips. I loaded the ink cartridge, flushed the pen (like you do with ALL fountain pens) and let it sit for about 4 hours to allow the ink to drain into the pen reservoir. When I put pen to paper. NOTHING! I replaced the ink cartridge after flushing the entire pen, waited a few more hours and...NOTHING! I tried filling my bladder with Waterman liquid ink but it wouldn't suck it up. Crap Instructions. The pen has an extra element that you don't need with ink cartridges (the manual doesn't mention this). But save this piece as you can use it for future inks. It takes more than an hour (almost all day) for the ink to drain deep enough to be used without the ink stopping. I got this as a practice kit and it works for that. I don't really think it's good for everyday or essential writing use. But maybe you are more advanced than me with this type of pens.
