Insulated Stainless Steel Camp Mug: CamelBak Horizon 12 oz - Tri-Mode Lid for Ultimate Versatility Review

I have several vacuum insulated containers but was looking for a mug that isn't huge, keeps my drink warm and has a nice lid. This mug has all that and more, plus it's really nice to have a silicone base. I wish there were more colors.

I love the mug. Feels great in hand. The rubber floor is nice. The only thing that disappointed me was the lid. The lid is slightly smaller than the regular 20 ounce lids found on most other stainless steel mugs. I have another lid that I use on another mug that has far fewer leaking issues and is easier to clean.

Bad design spoils a very nice mug. The advertised "non-slip silicone base" on the bottom protrudes from the cup by about 1-2 millimeters, reducing contact with a flat surface. Even the slightest touch can make the cup shake. That's really a shame because the materials and build quality are good.

The lid design is fantastic, like every Camelbak bottle I've had. However, I have to agree with other reviewers' opinions about the uncomfortable base size. The non-slip rubber base is slightly smaller than the base of the cup itself, causing it to wobble. I don't understand why they can't just make it as big as the cup. In terms of insulation, it's about the same as any other thermal mug I've had. Not as good as a regular thermos, but better than an open-air mug.

I bought this to keep in my caravan because I can never heat coffee in a regular mug. It got so many great reviews that I wanted to try it. It didn't keep my coffee hot for more than an hour and didn't fit in a car cup holder (I knew that, of course). Sure, they're a little cheaper than similar Hydro Flask mugs, but they're worthy mugs. The matte finish looks like a spray compared to the Hydro Flask's separate rubber finish. It keeps my coffee warm for quite a long time. My biggest criticism of this mug is that it's tipsy. The ultimate mug. I can't say enough good things about this product or the Camelbak brand in general. Everything they do is amazing, but this travel mug is especially wow. I drink my morning coffee slowly and usually throw away half of it when it gets too cold. This mug keeps my coffee hot for at least 3 hours. This mug is amazing. I like the silicone on the bottom so it doesn't scratch my table and I also like the locking tab on the lid - I accidentally knocked it over once and while it's not leak proof I caught it before it spilled.
