Finally able to watch my old miniDV that I salvaged.

Expected. I wanted to look at an old miniDV that I've had at home for almost 20 years. I could finally see her. I am very happy with the camcorder, it has met my expectations. Very satisfied.

The Canon ZR800 camcorder is an amazing camcorder

The Canon ZR800 camcorder is a compact, rugged camcorder with plenty of features to suit most users. And considering the great price, it's surprising that Canon even included an external microphone input (after all, 90 percent of the video is AUDIO). I actually bought the ZR800 as a "deck" for playing and recording mini DV tapes shot with my semi-pro camcorder (to avoid wear and tear on expensive cameras), but once I tried the ZR800 I liked it and use it often. for everyday use instead of…

My first DV camera is good for camera and photo

Hey, I'm having a lot of fun with my first DV camera. It has been a long time since my "Super 8" film camera was put into service. So consider this as a comparison. I've read reviews about "pop" zoom sounds. A good, steady, light release should solve this problem. No perceptible engine noise. Oh yes, I bought a refurbishment. for $140, so my costs seem minimal. I've had it for a few weeks now and the buyer has no regrets. The footage I captured exceeds what I thought of the quality of the…

Unacceptable engine noise. If you don't use a microphone

Ah, the engine noise problem is correct. I've had the ZR300 for a few years now and am very happy with it. I was hoping that the ZR800's engine noise would be at the same level, but unfortunately it's significantly worse. I find that makes the device unacceptable unless you intend to always use it with a microphone. If you're looking for a cheap camera to play with entry-level mics (which is what I wanted with this camera), this is a good option, but note that you can't control audio through…

This baby rocks and he's so tiny!

Okay I got all this in a few days so I'll probably update later but right now. this thing is amazing! I haven't noticed any significant engine noise during operation OR playback, although I haven't uploaded any video to my workstation yet. Sometime in the next few weeks I will, but for now, WOW! A couple of friends suggested a new UltraFlip digital recorder, but I wanted more options than it offered. First up was 16:9, removable storage, an external microphone, FireWire, and ideally a name I…

First Look: Camcorder

I am writing to compensate for some negative reviews of this device. I bought a Canon because it has the ability to connect an external microphone. I'm a new camcorder user so I don't have any hands-on experience to affect my opinion in any way. First to the streamer noise: Yes, I hear it when I hold the device to my ear. But when played back on my computer, there is no noticeable noise in actual videos. Second, they claim that you can plug in and record clips on your computer. What they don't…
