Reliable little all-purpose hand winch for your money. Completely unwind the cord from the spool before using it for the first time. Rewind evenly under tension. Don't rush and he won't sit on you.

Below average quality. The Ratchet Dog is stubborn, hopefully it will get better with use. There is no spring or tensioner on the wire rope, so you'll get a rat's nest on the rope as soon as you release the load. It works but I can't recommend this woman, next time I'll pay more and get a better device.

This is a nice double ratcheting winch that I will mount on the side to hoist the generator to the ceiling when not in use. It comes with a thick cord and hook, about 20-25 feet of 3/16 cord. Add 600 pounds but I have a sticker that says 800 pounds. This is how he lifts my portable generator (less than 100 pounds)

I actually bought these to raise and lower a 30 gallon deer feeder. With a completely empty feeder, the cable has already started to fray and so far a tooth on the gear wheel has broken. Until I find another one I currently have a ratchet strap wrapped around the handle to keep my feeder from falling to the ground.

This little hand winch is compact, well made and I'm sure it can handle 800#. The ratchet can be rotated forwards, backwards, or not included at all. The winch parts are cadmium plated and the handle has a nylon nut. I used to buy a similar winch at a discount tool store and the parts weren't that good.

I am using this to transport an Alaskan sawmill. I replaced the two carriage screws with longer ones to add the channel on the router. The spring assembly broke and I reassembled it the wrong way round so I ended up taking it apart a few times but ended up putting it all back together. The mechanism is quite simple. This winch should do its job well. For the price I can't complain.

I bought this so I can "fly" a kayak over the rafters of my garage. If you only need to lift 40 pounds, this poorly constructed piece is probably acceptable; I would never try to use it for more. The ratchet is misaligned and easily slips off the gear, meaning the load can drop drastically.
