It sounded awful before it stopped working

We moved into our new house a month and a half ago and felt like the air conditioning was on that last step or something like that would come out. Find out, it's going out on the hottest day of the year. There were 99 outside and 92 inside. This is a Payne PA10JA48-C and the old engine was a GE 5KCP39RGS070S. It sounded terrible before everything stopped working together. I just installed this motor in the unit and so far so good. Now it sounds great and I have air conditioning again. We hope…

Pros
  • High score for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as the other options

Easy assembly, identical to the previous device. A couple of notes though. There was considerable resistance to rotation, first noticed when I rotated the rotor shaft and still noticeable when I installed the fan blade. You could tell he was tense, maybe a little more. My unit had a bulged run/run capacitor, but to clear up the source of the confusion, the item's description says there is a capacitor in the kit, which is not the case. My box didn't have one, and my 4-ton Bryant's specs called…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Great replacement part, best in electrical engineering

Great replacement part. Fits on my carrier block just like the OEM part. It takes about 45-60 minutes to disassemble the fan/motor assembly and disconnect the cables and then reassemble. Just make sure you take photos of the wiring to the relay and capacitor before you start. Speaking of which, it probably makes sense to replace the capacitor while you're at it. The only difficulty was removing the fan from the shaft of the old motor. It rusts pretty badly. I've seen several online forums…

Pros
  • Fits me perfectly
Cons
  • No instructions
