My CDRW worked well for the first month. Then it stopped. Doesn't read CD or write CD. Getting someone from CenDyne to come forward for a warranty repair or replacement is almost impossible. I want my money back

I bought a Verbatim disc (48x12x48) which Verbatim Technical Support says is a relabeled CenDyne. I also chose the CenDyne DVD-ROM. What mistake! The CD-RW drive with Nero Burn works with CD-Rs, but not with all CD-RWs. I've tried different CD-RW brands like HP, TDK and even Verbatim but always get a "Medium Speed Error". I have the model 4618P, crappy Acer(Benq) drive. There have been many reports of model variations and therefore issues related to this drive. For example, my Benq actually has a resolution of 48x16x48. But don't let the 16x speed fool you into thinking it's a good deal; If it is not an LTR (Lite-on) model I would return the product (the back of the box should say which model). I didn't check then and I regret it now as this stupid ride burns tons of coasters.

Assembly was easy according to the instructions, that's where the good news ends. It was interfering with Windows Media Player and now it won't play. I get an error message saying I don't have a sound card. I was fortunate to burn 1 CD out of 10 with no hard drive or software errors. Their tech support takes you to a website that will take you hours of surfing trying to figure out your problem. What mistake.

I learned that Cendyne went bankrupt in August 2003, just before my 48x12x48 CDRW went bankrupt just five months later. Even their website states that they will no longer honor their guarantee. Cheap trip, valuable lesson.

Purchased disk 12/02 only for transferring data files. Stop working after about 20 days. Loud vibration and no longer detects blank media. I'll still read the CD from time to time - you can already guess when. No corporate email support after three emails. There is no 1-800 number and you have to look for a paid tech support number that hasn't yielded any results yet. DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE if you don't like pain.
