Type of review

I liked that it was a very fast wireless connection for about two months but first a 5GHz radio gave out then a 2.4GHz radio after a week when I tried Calling Cisco they said I had to have a smartnet contract to fix this. He is only two months old, repair under warranty is not subject. It sucks!

So far so good, great access point

I installed the device with a separate power injector, I don't have a POE switch. Physical installation was easy, ceiling mounting went smoothly. Setting up the hotspot was easy, some IT experience is usually required for advanced settings. I am setting up a 2.4GHz network, 2.4GHz and 5GHz guest networks. Great so far, will have to see how it holds up after many customers have joined AP. I will update if the AP is working poorly.

Works as advertised, good coverage.

I have used several of these. I had a weird problem with one (factory error) and Cisco replaced the device. Devices only work via POE. They prefer 802.3at but will work with 802.3af (no .3af channel binding). To connect 2 channels use the "on” option (ie no protocol option) on the switch. WAP does not support LACP or PAGP. To install, mount the supplied bracket on the ceiling or wall and snap the device onto it.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons

Fast, reliable and quick to set up

Works great but I'm a Cisco certified guy, I have a PoE switch at home. I don't know how well this would work for the average person, especially setting it up. As far as I could tell they didn't over complicate it, it looked pretty easy but I said it's easy to set up, it's like your mechanic said it was easy to change valves in your car engine, right Cedric Grolet said making dessert was easy. Performance is good, but you need a switch that can be configured to have both Ethernet ports on the…

Normal range, there is interference

Normal access point, nothing special. The range is significantly less than a consumer wireless router with external antennas, there's no excuse for that. Well, some "network experts" say that "enterprise" APs actually need less range so they don't get in the way when deployed in a cluster, but then the same people claim that by switching to Ruckus, they've been able to install fewer APs with BeamFlex , because they have more range. Find out where the logic is. That's definitely enough to cover…

Instant Wi-Fi Coverage Improvement

A little more difficult to set up than our old Cisco AP541N-K9, I don't like the new menus. It does not make sense to place some setting functions in the menu. However, they like that 2.4 and 5G work together. We require 2.4G for all our Canon inkjet printers. 5G accelerates mobile working in our studios enormously. Range is a bit limited, but that's to be expected from a dual-mode transmitter. It also has the ability to run IPv4 separately from IPv6, which is good for our old router. It's…
