Legacy Tech Mighty Mouse

So if DSL becomes your only option because you live in the middle of nowhere in the 5th city of the US, this little modem/router has it all. This gives us full bars throughout our 5,000 square foot Santa Fe style home - a feat for all walls. Reliable to set up and run, with the best results you could hope for. Remember this is DSL and this was yesterday's technology but it will work until a better one comes along.

Pros
  • Cool

  • Safety

It finally seems stable. But there are problems.

The first time I tried to get this to work I failed. I just couldn't. In the morning I gathered all my ducks in a row to call tech support, meaning I wanted one computer connected directly to the DSL modem via an ethernet hub so I could check this and the second via cable with it connected to the device to access its web interface, and the third is actually ready for a wireless connection. The idea was that once set up I could see exactly where the whole process was failing. And it turns outโ€ฆ

It still works

Overall I'm happy with it but it's only been installed/working for about 20 minutes so it's really hard to tell. First, I'm not happy that the included power adapter isn't for North America, even though the product description says "North America". Instead, it's a Chinese plug with two 45-degree pins. Basically useless. I had a 12v 1amp adapter which works although it is not supplied and although the modem function works it may void the warranty but they leave me no choice. My internet wentโ€ฆ

Set Impossible Good for Routers

This router requires a physical connection between the computer and the router using a Cat-5 cable to generate a password to use. Using the step-by-step guide, the process failed to generate a usable password to access the router. Cisco help was impossible. This requires users to register on the site before technical support is available. The registration process does not accept any input. Unbelievable.

Not easy to set up compared to other DSL routers, turns off randomly.

I bought a new (previously returned) version of this router to replace a Frontier supplied Arris router which overheated in warmer weather and lost connection due to heat generated by the internal Wi-Fi Has. Crisps. During the initial setup, the router recognizes that I have a DSL connection and then asks if I need to register. Frontier requires a PPPoE login. I enter my username and password, but authorization failed. After spending a lot of time with the DSL settings, it turned out that theโ€ฆ

ideal for my best DSL in network products

My DSL modem was 20 years old from Verizon. It connects better than before without falling out. does not turn to wait on YouTube. I have it in bridge mode and it works great.
