My son forgets to look at his watch and so I got this to ring when dinner is ready. Even if the kids are playing outside 5 houses away, they can hear the bell and come running for dinner! I gave it 4 stars b/c it doesn't ring smoothly.

you know, the cost is low but this bell doesn't really work that well. It's design is bad-after a couple of rings, the ringer tends to go in a circle so you can't get an extended ringing sound. For our purposes, that was an important consideration-so if you need extended rings-this probably won't work for you? At least, that was our experience.
