It measures to within 1000 inches and seems accurate for my application. The price is fair. Maybe it would be easier to read, but I don't know how. So overall a good tool. At least I don't have to worry about batteries!

I use them a lot at work. Accurate and much smoother than the SPI junk my boss usually buys for other workcells. I usually use them to measure the dimensions of an engine jack on a CNC lathe, which doesn't hold tolerances very well. So my slim right-hand mic can test them much quicker than most in the store. Just keep them clean when not in use.

As an amateur geologist, I use this to measure thin sections of minerals mounted on a glass slide. The mineral thickness I'm looking for is 0.001 inch or 25 microns. This is the most economical micrometer I've had the chance to work with. Since I don't need thickness accuracy, but the difference between mineral + glue + foil and mineral thickness, your tool is perfectly adequate.
