Excellent Straight Diameter Ply Groove Bit

I recently purchased a router bit for my woodworking projects from the Cutting Tools category under Industrial and Scientific, and I was impressed with the quality of the CMT 811 182 11 Straight Diameter Ply Groove. Based on my experience, this bit is perfect for cutting grooves and dadoes in plywood with precision and ease. The best thing about it is its sharpness, which made the cuts clean without any tearout. However, the only downside is that it is a bit expensive compared to other brands…

Pros
  • Accurate and precise grooving performance
Cons
  • Not suitable for grooving non-cylindrical objects

Broke after 3 uses

As with the previous reviewer, the tip broke after the third use. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck finding another 23/32" drill with a 1/4" shank.

Pros
  • 1" blade, 2 1/4" length, 2 blades.
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Prone to breakage - power tool parts and accessories

Bought a set of plywood bits with this bit. The first time I used it the carbide tip broke when I used it with a 1/8" deep cut in oak. I sent the set back and got a replacement. Also on the 2nd drill bit the carbide broke. I was careful, after the 1st broke, I wouldn't take CMT bits - use Amana or another brand.

Pros
  • CMT bits rated better overall than other brands (Wood Magazine test).
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
