Carbide Chips Badly

The bottom of a carbide chipped badly on first use. I cut out a few places for bows, so the neckline turned out to be very small. I don't know exactly what happened, but I'm very disappointed.

Pros
  • CMT Bits Ranked Best Compared to Other Brands (Wood Magazine Test)
Cons
  • Stack Drilling

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A good thing, albeit a small one.

Bit well made but a little under 3/4 inch, around 9k as far as I can tell. Carbide appears to be of very good quality, bearing and snap ring fit well. Overall a bit of quality.

Pros
  • 2 SinterHip Hi-Density Industrial Chrome Carbide Cutting Edges
Cons
  • So far so good

Clean cut. Smooth bearing

I have several CMT cutters, so I wasn't surprised at how sharp this cutter was. It's still VERY sharp after a series of patterns on the plywood. The bottom of each milled cavity was smooth and even. The metal plate later inserted into the cavity did not move. Photo shows 1/4" shank. Description says 1/2". Received 1/2" shank as described. The bearing was as smooth as possible for use with a jig. The outside diameters of the bearing and bit matched exactly (as I expected from CMT). good shot.

Pros
  • Smooth and precise cut Exceptional chip evacuation for a cleaner, more consistent cut
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
