Very good while it lasted.

I used this cutter to cut six large pieces (about 85 feet total length) before the top cutter separated from the cutting area. Luckily the last part was halfway through. Otherwise it stayed sharp and only needed an occasional brushing. I'm an aspiring carpenter and probably treated this pretty harshly.

This is the second CMT bit I have bought. I cut dog holes for a new workbench. The first hole went well. In the second hole I found, the set screw was loose (actually it's gone now) and my jig and blank (8ft 8/4 walnut) were shattered. I've now gone to Lowe to see if I can find a replacement. I doubt I'll buy SMT again, stick with Whiteside or Freud.

The bit is a bit small compared to stock

I needed a pair of wire cutters to make a copy of my Festool MFT top. (The top of the MFT has a series of precise 20mm holes and my existing top should be used as a template.) I've used a Freud bit in the past that worked fine, but I was building a new top so decided i myself to buy a new one. one piece. However, the CMT bit is slightly smaller compared to the stock by about 0.005", which is enough to keep my metal latches out of the holes. Normally this wouldn't be a problem for most…
