🪚 CMT PPJ-002 Pocket-Pro Starter Set: Compact and Convenient Woodworking Essential Kit Review

This is a great addition to my workshop. I used to use a set of pocket Kreg mini screws that had to be manually pressed into the work piece. It did its job but I needed something stronger and not bulky for the clamp. I considered buying a Kreg system for a workbench but saw one at a much cheaper price. So far I have not regretted the purchase. It's durable, performs the same functions, and costs less. For me it's a win-win situation.

I used it to fasten regular 1" x 3" boards and on the sixth or seventh hole the drill bit broke (the smaller diameter part) and made the whole set unusable. . The wood I use is very soft so I don't know why it can break so easily as the drill bit is powered by a jig and it's not easy to turn to break. Probably got caught in a knot on the board (didn't think to check). Buying a replacement drill bit ($20) seems about as expensive as buying a new set. Disappointing!

Well I just looked back and realized I've had this fixture for almost two years now. I've made a lot of furniture out of it over the last two years, including a large sideboard for my wife, a coat rack, DVD shelves and more. I can say it takes a little longer because you have to drill through each piece, but if you add some wood glue to each piece and then twist them together they are exceptionally strong! Works just as good as the $129 model sold by Kg Love this kit. All I had to do was screw both pieces onto a 12" x 14" piece of plywood. The jig is a great tool to speed up pocket hole drilling. It seems very precise and has an easy threaded hole depth adjustment. I recommend this jig is for anyone, especially the average carpenter looking to get into pocket hole carpentry.
