Description of πŸ”§ Enhanced Performance with Cobra Carbide 20513 General Diameter: Perfect for Precision Machining

Solid carbide tools offer long tool life and faster cutting speeds than other substrates, but are more brittle and must be used with rigid toolholding systems. Titanium nitride coatings add a hard layer of gold-colored ceramic to the surface that extends tool life and permits faster cutting speeds than uncoated tools. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. Center cutting geometry. Design for increased chip removal rate.

Can be immediately attached to the square nose

I expected more for the price. It ripped off my spindle as soon as it hit the aluminum. Looks like I'm sticking with Speed Tiger

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Ideal for longer reach in aluminum

Sometimes a longer small end mill is essential. This particular brand has worked well for me in my previous purchases of various sizes.

Pros
  • Milling accessories
Cons
  • are unreliable

Let's look at the previous reviews first. This end mill is exactly as described. The coating is titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) as described and is actually purplish black in color. This is different from the image, which for some reason only shows titanium nitride (TiN). In fact, TiAlN is the best and generally more expensive coating at higher hardness and temperatures above 800Β°C to create an aluminum oxide layer that reflects heat back into the chip and away from the tool and workpiece…

Pros
  • Cutting tool
Cons
  • Big and chunky
