I love this tool. It's still a job and you have to keep an eye on what you're doing, but it makes shelling the coconut a lot easier, and the coconut meat is way better than store-bought dried coconut. A must if you live in the tropics.

Steps to grind the coconut.1. split the coconut 2. separate the flesh from the shell 3. grind the coconut with a blender (not very fine) or with a grater (danger of chafing your fingers). Chop Coconut 2. Chop the coconut very finely without removing the flesh from the shell. Works great. I like it.

I gave this product a bad review because I was confused by the safety cap and thought it was the wrong blade and not the one it should be on. If you read my previous review please ignore it. There is nothing wrong with the product and I received instructions on my error almost immediately. My apologies for taking someone away from the parser due to my ignorance.

The first one had to be sent back because the coffee grinder lid broke. The second one was replaced on time, came with a small crack on the lid, but still closes well. Also, this meat grinder works great. I shredded coconuts in less than 2 minutes and it doesn't take you much effort to turn the knob. I highly recommend the product and it does a good job for the price.

Works well. I bought it for my mom who loves to eat fresh coconut every day. It's much faster than the traditional scraper she used. The only reason I took off a star was that it's a bit difficult to get the meat out of the bottom. You'll have to turn and maneuver to get to this area, but it's not impossible. This can be easily attached directly to the worktop and is non-slip. The purchase was worth it.

I brought a similar grated coconut from South India a few years ago after seeing it there. This grater is 100 times better. This grater is made in Sri Lanka, well designed and does the job well. The South Indian grater clamp could not hold the grater securely in place and was difficult to use. I can't imagine how suction cup graters hold up as grating coconut requires a very strong, stable base.

I love, love, love kitchen appliances, especially ones that don't require electricity. When I saw it I knew I had to have it. What a well thought out and constructed tool! Arrived quickly, easy set up. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was that it tends to loosen up a bit and it takes a little longer to grind the coconut than I expected. That being said, now that I've received and used it I'm in the process of ordering another one of these. if you have never tried freshly grated coconut; you should get it if you like coconut in a bag from the store; it would rate something like a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1 to 10.
