This little guy works great

Works great. I had to watch a few youtubes on how to fold it back, but other than that it's a classic, trustworthy product. Perfectly cooked toast! It's pretty cool that you can quickly make a turkey sandwich with toasted bread on the go.

  • One year trial

Did not have time. in camping stoves

Thing never made it to the campsite. I took it out of the box, gave it a quick wash before taking it with me and it rusted immediately. It didn't cost us an arm or a leg and I'd be happy to use it at least once. Unless I'm doing something wrong I wouldn't recommend it.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not sure

Works well with some hurdles.

Works as expected. Browns quite well, especially when cooking 4 slices, as more heat is retained and the process is speeded up. If it is windy, it will take longer or not very good. The corrosion factor is the reason I gave it 3 stars. It will corrode no matter how clean you try to keep it. However, I still use it after a few hikes.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Not the best

Be prepared for a lot of rust

The description says "rust free". This appears to be true only for well-weathered wires. The base started to rust as soon as it was unpacked, direct contact with water was not necessary. He still makes toast. Just an extra "brown" on the bread it comes in contact with. Good for casual camping but don't expect much use.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Discontinued model

TOAST! - Cookers and grills

What can I say. I have a $300 toaster on my counter that doesn't even make toast as well as this little unit. Imagine it's not, but it makes an amazing toast! I actually bought this along with my butane gas light I bought here in New England in case of a power outage. I remembered using them on camping trips as a kid and figured if I could make hot water for coffee and toast I'm done! This little $5 toaster is cool โ€” so if you're camping or have a gas range and want to toast in the desert, orโ€ฆ

An improved camping toaster, easy to use in the kitchen every day

I don't have an electric toaster. I use this toaster daily on my gas stove and am very happy with it. I've been using it for over nine years now since I bought it from Amazon. I call it the improved model because the tines that hold the bread in place are longer, so the slices stay in place better than the shorter tines on my recently replaced, six-year-old Coleman camp toaster. How long it takes to toast bread on a gas stove depends on the bread I think. Bread with sugar or other sweetenersโ€ฆ

Camping Stove Bread Dryer

I used this over an 8000+ BTU propane camp stove on a cool October morning in Shenandoah National Park. After many minutes he was only able to dry the slices of bread without noticeable browning. It just doesn't generate the heat needed to make toast when camping. When I got home I used it on my kitchen gas range and in about ten minutes I had what is labeled "toast", although it was drier than a regular toaster. Bread in a dry pan. Given how much the Parkcamp store charges for a 1 poundโ€ฆ

VIP of my camping gear

This little guy is awesome and the best camping gear I have. For the last two years, he has received an employee of the month every month. He has one job and no one else can top it: make toast. You can't go wrong, but a tool is only as good as the user. First, it changes color. You set metal on fire, that happens. Second, I don't wash mine. I wipe off the breadcrumbs and put them back in the box. This is bread, why would you clean it with anything other than wiping it down with a dry paperโ€ฆ

  • Great overall specs

  • Not bad

Depending on the bread, toasting may take some time.

I ordered this small toaster for a long trip. Didn't think we would miss the toast! We did. I used a propane stove and 4 slices of bread. I don't think propane has the same heat (Btu) as my home gas stove, so I always plan on slightly longer cooking times with propane. I wasn't surprised that the toast lasted several minutes. We have a ceramic toaster at home that takes a long time to heat up and toast. It looked pretty much the same, but I didn't have to nudge it to see the color. Theโ€ฆ
