Coghlans Snap Tap Grommets 8 Pack Review

I love this style of hub. Simply poke a hole in the fabric you are pinning, connect the sleeve pieces and tap lightly with a hammer. I use them to secure a tarp over my chicken coop as a rain/snow barrier. So far the wind hasn't blown anything.

These bushings work well but be aware you cannot open the hole by tapping it. Make a small hole/cut, thread one end through and they snap into place very easily. I've been using them on medium sized fabric and nylon tarpaulins for many months with no problems. They are very durable when assembled correctly.

These bushings were exactly what I was looking for. I needed something light, strong and easy to install. I have a lightweight waterproof nylon bottom that I have to stake out on windy days. I wanted the bottom to stay light when carrying it in my backpack while hiking. I've only used it twice since installing the grommets, but so far I'm happy with their performance. By the way, I found them easy to remove and reuse.

I cut a large tarp in half and made a hem to reinforce the grommet points along the cut side. These Coghlan bushings couldn't take more than one layer of my 10 mil. Plans. The Coghlan grommets were also very difficult to install and certainly wouldn't make their own hole in the tarp like the packaging says.
