Reliable Performance: Cole Hersee 24117 Red 12V Continuous Duty SPST Solenoid Review

Local golf cart dealers were charging three to four times the price of this solenoid for OEM parts. This can be easily mounted directly into the OEM mounting bracket. Great value for money as I saved more than double what I paid for it. When they come out again, I will buy this exact part again.

Attach this to my ATV for the winch. If you run in deep water, most solenoids will eventually rust inside and stick, rendering them useless. You won't know until you need it. Been using it for a long time and no problems so far. It has rained a lot this year and the backyard forest has been very wet for a long time. It has survived many dives.

I bought this because of Cole Hersee's reputation and the coating that makes it suitable for the marine environment. I redesigned my boat's bilge pump circuit to include this relay to reduce voltage drop. That works great. The smaller diameter top terminals are a bit short, but 2 ferrules can be placed on one stud.

I recommend this solenoid as it is PVC coated to prevent corrosion. I installed two on our boat, the original magnets were 16 years old. They were easy to install and worked exactly as expected. Much better than non-PVC coated units when used in a marine environment. FYI I returned the Revain units and bought them locally at a much higher price as Revain was unable to deliver them on time as promised.
